“It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so.” – Mark Twain

When caring for an elderly parent,  you’d want to know what they are thinking but not saying…

So much of the real important stuff is sometimes left unsaid. Your Mom may be making small talk to avoid what really matters to her, only because she doesn’t want to worry you.

Although every case is different, this approach will help you address important topics that may be worrying her and therefore lessen her anxieties and concerns, plus is a great opportunity to dig deep and create meaningful intimacy with great timing.

These are not in any specific order. Here we go!

Your Mom is thinking about:

  • Am I a burden?
  • Who’s going to take care of my husband/wife when I die?
  • How limited am I going to be when my condition gets worse?
  • What happens if I fall when I’m alone?
  • How much time do I have left?
  • Would I be better off dead?
  • What’s on the other side?
  • How are my kids dealing with caring for me at their home?
  • Will I have enough money to live until I die?
  • How am I going to pay for my care?
  • Will this hurt?
  • Did I live a good life?
  • Will I be remembered?
  • Will you be Ok?
  • Is all my work done?
